When i first heard off our coach, Trent Robinson that Keegan Smith was going to be our strength and conditioner I would have to say I was a little taken back. To bring a 28 year old S&C (strength and conditioning) coach without a great deal of experience to the Catalans Dragons club as Head of S&Cs seemed like a big risk. Trent said to me that Keegan had great knowledge of the every aspect of S&C and had similar ideas to himself on how to prepare for the way we wanted to play.

After the first shake of the hands and later followed by a brief chat about our past both professionally and away from Rugby League, I knew I was going to learn and profit from having Keegan in my life. Both for my career and my well-being. Over the last 18 months I have changed my life dramatically and the spark has definitively been Keegan’s training methods mixed with his motivation to implement well researched lifestyle changes.
Over the last 18 months Keegan and I have exchanged many books ranging from diet to conspiracies on world agendas. The two most powerful and motivating books for me would have to be the “Paleo Solution” by Robb wolf and “Lights out” by TS Wiley. After doing the research and gaining knowledge together with Keeg’s my motivation to change has grown. I now feel confident to walk the path of clean, healthy living. I am no poster boy for fat loss or for having the heaviest lifts in the gym but I have improved in many areas such as speed and power and I have my body at a level where I am happy and feel great.

The most important point for me has been reducing the inflammation in my body. After playing professionally for 13 years I realize how much I have put my body through and how much inflammation has built up due to many factors. I have always had an organic diet but I feel changing my diet to mostly raw (Meat and veges), Plus increasing the amount of Fat by 200%, completely cutting out Grains and limiting dairy and sugar to a minimum, has helped me get closer to my goals. Add to this with sleeping for 10 hours in complete darkness each night and some weekly yoga and meditation, plus a beautiful loving partner and you have a happy little soul.
