Milos âThe Mindâ Sarcev might be the most successful coach in the history of bodybuilding.
Â
Charles Poliquin ran bodybuilding camps with Milos.
His method focusâ on giant sets and high volume for muscle gains.
Itâs easy to see why the body would adapt with increased size following these methods.
Â
This type of hypertrophy training isnât generally used with athletes because weâre more focussed on gaining relative strength and power than pure size. Still itâs worth understanding this style of training and even doing a few sessions to experience it for yourself.
Â
The most similar method outside of bodybuilding would be CrossFit where you work between multiple movements taken to near failure (because speed is encouraged and generally the repetitions canât be completed unbroken.
Â
Sarcev also focusâ on carbohydrate driven muscle growth and was said to use insulin as an anabolic (not recommended).

Milos himself has quite good form and range of motion compared to some of the bodybuilders who have lost their range.
Â
Extended sets, Drop sets, Mechanical Drop sets
Uses slow repetitions with pauses as well as faster burnout sets. Drop sets, spotting and mechanical drop-sets are used to increase intensity.
Â
0-10 second rest between movements.

Lessons From Milos
- Demanding changing with much higher than standard volume (3x10-20) works.
- You can do a lot more than you realise.
- Short rests and a change of movement patterns allow us to increase the density of our training.
- Different motor patterns fatigue differently even using the same muscle groups.
