When you are in a state of recovery and low stress you build higher quality tissues for the long term. Parasympathetic dominance of the "autonomic" nervous system drives this process.
 
High stress drives lower quality protein synthesis. You're building for the short-term to survive tomorrow / tough times.
 
Protein Turnover is really what we're encouraging with Leucine stimulating mTor and Strength Training. We WANT to turnover tissues and recreate strong healthy tissues.
 
If you have meat that is getting old (you don't live in the fridge) it's going to need to constantly be renewed and replaced to be healthy.
