Vitamin D - Sun & Supplements

Vitamin D

An important predictor of health outcomes such as cancer and fast-twitch motor function.

The fastest athletes are almost always training closer to the equator than their slower less sun-soaked competition.

Artificial vitamin D hasn't been shown to have the same positive impacts on health but does seem to have powerful short-term benefits.

Get some sun.

Sun

Go outside when you wake, ideally see the sunrise.

Get "pinkish" a few times a week.

Natural sunlight is better than supplements.

Don't get burned!

Some sun when the sun low (shadow is longer than your body height) is good.

Be outside at sunset and block unnatural light after sunset where possible (blue light blockers - orange or red - use Flux or similar blue light blocking apps)

Supplements

Don't take supplements daily. Use higher doses occasionally.
30,000 - 50,000 iu is a commonly recommended mega-dose. Some people recommend 100,000 or even 1,000,000 iu as one-off doses.

COD LIVER OIL
Is a good all-round source of vitamin A and D. The fat from healthy animals raised in the sun will also provide highly absorbable fat-soluble vitamins?
