Week 3: STATS!!!

I will remind you at the start of each Lesson that Online Biz Ability is an evolving subject. At present, I can share what I have used to get to 87k Instagram followers and 3750+ active online members.

What you can measure, you can improve. I've recorded and graphed 3 stats every single week since November 2018. I started my online business in March of 2018, and by May I had 50 members. By November I STILL had only 50 members, a 6 MONTH PLATEAU...
It was at that point that I began keeping track of stats and holding weekly staff meetings to analyze them and create a specific Battleplan for the week ahead.
We have not missed a week since. And we have not stopped growing from month to month since that point: 19 straight months of growth!
I want to highly emphasize the importance of actually GRAPHING the stats, whether manually or with an online tool. My mom is old-school and manually graphs them so that you can compare trends in stats to trends in sign-ups.
First, make sure your IG page is a business account (Setting > Account > Switch to Business Account).
Then record your stats at the exact same time each week. I record mine Thursday morning because we have our weekly staff meeting on Friday, so this gives time to collect and graph all stats prior to the meeting.
When you go to Insights you will see 3 categories. I keep just one stat from each category...
Stat 1: POSTS!
From the first section, "Content," I keep the stat of total posts and stories. This is the very first stat you see. The number I have found to work best is 150 per week. I have gone as high as 400, but this much quantity can reduce the quality. When in doubt, use the following formula:
Page posts for QUALITY. Story posts for QUANTITY.
You can put up a bad story post, and it will be gone the next day. Think of story posts as flyers. Pass them out!
But your page is where people have to immediately be able to recognize who you are and what you are selling. For this reason, I try not to have two of the same kind of page posts. I regularly delete posts even if they have lots of views because I want to make a new post of its same type. For every post you have of the same type, you risk a viewer seeing the same thing and not gaining a NEW reason to follow you or sign up for your product.
I currently have only 22-page posts even though I post religiously on my page, once a day minimum and twice a day maximum.
POSTING ON YOUR PAGE ONCE PER DAY IS THE STARTING POINT OF GROWING YOUR ONLINE BUSINESS.
But keeping past posts that don't provide unique value means less efficiency in getting your viewer to learn exactly who you are and what you are selling.
WHO you are is Lesson 1.
WHAT you are selling is Lesson 2.
Feel free to go back through those steps constantly. I still evaluate those two steps on a weekly basis and I make sure my page is accurately getting those messages across!

I've found 150 per week to be the optimum amount that allows ENOUGH outflow, without being so much that your message gets lost because people aren't taking the time to really look at each page post or story post. ANYONE can do at least 150 per week, by rolling up your sleeves and putting in the work! THESE 150 POSTS PER WEEK ARE THE FUEL FOR YOUR ONLINE BUSINESS! Future lessons will dive into how to make them maximally effective, but the first step is the ACTION.
Stat 2: CLICKS!!
The second section of Insights is "Activity." If you scroll down a touch you will see "Website Clicks." This is the stat I keep from this section, and this stat is the one MOST linked with how many sign-ups I get in a week!
If more people walk into your butcher shop, you are likely to sell more steaks (I initially wrote this as "bakery... and loaves of bread" - but I realized this may cause some readers to spontaneously smash the computer and be unable to read the rest of the lesson).
This stat is so simple. But this stat is really a PRODUCT of Stats 1 & 3. So let's move right on to Stat 3...
Stat 3: NEW FOLLOWERS!!!
This is the MOST important stat of all! THIS is how you boom your online business to a whole new RANGE.
When I look at my stat trends, I see that my big jumps in Clicks and sign-ups always follow a few weeks AFTER a big jump in new followers.
Stats 1 and 2 merely allow you to catch fish in your own pond. You will eventually run out of fish.
Stat 3 allows you to GROW YOUR POND and increase how many fish you have a chance of catching!
At the end of the day, if ALL I do is keep my followers growing, I will keep making more money.
Of course, you will keep improving Lessons 1 and 2 of WHO you are and WHAT you are selling, but how many potential customers you have determines if you can turn your passion into prosperity.
That is the conclusion of Lesson 3.
If we are going to get into massive action, we've got to be keeping STATS of that action, otherwise, we may go in circles and waste our efforts!
