Slow eccentrics or isometrics in an easy position can allow neural and sometimes muscular recovery.

Eccentrics recover the muscle relative to the concentric.
eg. it takes 10 muscle fibres to lift the weight but only 7 to lower it so 3 are resting. It doesn't create complete recovery but explains the longer TUT for doing 8 reps in 40 seconds versus 8 reps in 10 seconds.

May help teach the body to recover the muscle and neural system while under tension. They are a mystery to me and most others.
